KYANKWANZI – The Director, National Leadership Institute (NALI), Col. Okei Rukogota, officially opened the Emyooga SACCO Leaders’ course in Kyankwanzi.
The day marked a significant milestone in rethinking institutional priorities and rebuilding citizen confidence in socio-economic transformation, as the National Leadership Institute launched the first-ever Emyooga SACCO Leaders’ Intake 01/26.
“You of Emyooga must continuously know your role in the big scheme of things; you are one of the wheels in wealth creation and socio-economic transformation, which he termed as cogs and wheels that make it happen,” the Director reminded the participants.
He went ahead and said that together we make it happen (the socio-economic process), which is all about transforming Uganda from a peasant, less industrialized country to a highly industrialized country that exploits all its necessary components and elements of the fourth industrial revolution.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the President, who sent greetings to the participants, the Director reassured them of being a very important component of everything that the government is doing to make sure that Uganda becomes a modern, highly industrialized country.
He said that it’s the government’s intention to do away with production in an informal way that consists of using backward managerial ways, which he termed “zenkolako zendya”.
He emphasized supporting common user facilities so that SACCO members don’t incur the cost of having to buy heavy equipment like a lathe machine or a designing machine, which the government can provide, and is more helpful to the facilities.
He also described the mission as helping groups grow, come of age, become independent, and enjoy the support of common user facilities.
In addition, the Director said, “You must have the SACCOs to keep funding that grow and also make sure your representatives get skills to be better producers.”
In conclusion, he stated that, “importantly, the launch of this course is that you know your place in what the government is doing at the strategic level, which is to turn our country into a prosperous country.”
